Welcome to the 7th Step Society
Newfoundland & Labrador
7th Step NL is a volunteer-based peer support group that meets weekly with persons who are presently or have been incarcerated or criminalized, and/or individuals seeking support as they return to their community. The goal is to foster open communication, peer support, and encourage positive daily decision making.
What makes 7th Step unique is our commitment to a process of collective and group-led self-help and peer support.
We help our members reflect upon their thoughts and attitudes.
We help our members return to and live and remain in their community.
We are a process, not a program.
The Seven Steps were developed by a formerly incarcerated person/prisoner to demonstrate the promise and commitment to making meaningful change.
7th Step holds an inside group at Her Majesty’s Penitentiary every Wednesday morning. There are also groups operating in the central region of the province for individuals who may be living or staying there. These groups are a means of support and encouragement for members inside the correctional institution.

7th Step NL also has community-based/street group meetings on Wednesday nights from 6:00-7:30pm.
Please see more below and/or email us to confirm your attendance and receive location information.
Friends, family, acquaintances welcome and previous incarceration is not necessary. We support anyone who has experienced and/or may be in a position in which they may experience incarceration or criminalization.
We provide support to individuals in the community. Members can include former prisoners, federal or provincial, as well as individuals seeking encouragement and guidance as they move forward with their lives.
7th Step NL has received support from several local organizations, departments, and community members who we offer our sincere thanks. If you wish to contribute to our ongoing efforts, please contact us.
