Welcome to 7th Step Society
Newfoundland & Labrador
7th Step Society NL is a volunteer-based peer support group that meets weekly in correctional settings in the province with persons who are/have been incarcerated or criminalized, and/or individuals seeking support as they return to their community to pursue new opportunities. The goal is to foster open communication, peer support and encourage daily positive decision making.
What makes 7th Step unique is our commitment to a process of self-help and peer support.
We help our members safely return to and live in their community.
We help our members evaluate their thoughts and attitudes.
We help our members stay out of jail.
We are a process, not a program.
The Seven Steps were developed by a formerly incarcerated person/prisoner to demonstrate the promise and commitment to making meaningful change.

7th Step holds an inside group at Her Majesty’s Penitentiary every Wednesday morning. There are also groups operating in the central region of the province for individuals who may be living or staying there. These groups are a means of support and encouragement for members inside the correctional institution.

Friends, family, acquaintances welcome and previous incarceration is not necessary. We support anyone who has experienced and/or may be in a position in which they may experience incarceration or criminalization.
We provide support to individuals in the community. Members can include former prisoners, federal or provincial, as well as individuals seeking encouragement and guidance as they move forward with their lives.
