The core group is based on a peer support, self-help model of care and programming. Membership is comprised of incarcerated persons who often have justice system histories due to ongoing experiences and/or challenges, and non-criminalized community volunteers committed to social justice work.

About the event
Eligibility
The Core Group offers ongoing peer support. Membership is comprised of incarcerated persons and non-incarcerated/community volunteers.
Any person who meets the criteria is eligible to apply for a membership of a Core Group, with the following exception:
The Core Group shall not include any individual as a member if that membership would in any way deter the participation of the primary target group from involvement.
Criteria for Core Group Membership
Applicant is sincere in the desire to move away from the activities and associations that led to justice system involvement.
Applicant makes a personal commitment to change their lifestyle.
Applicant adheres to the basic peer support concepts as philosophized by the group/organization.
Applicant is willing to accept the incarcerated, criminalized, and the non-incarcerated/criminalized as equal parts of the change process.
Applicant is willing to take accontability and practice self-discipline through exercising self-control, including changes in former lifestyles.
Applicant wishes to strive to abide within the law.
